It was a pleasure and privilege to deliver homemade goodies to and meet with friends at Poopsie's during their July 29 employee meeting. I appreciated the opportunity to personally thank the Poopettes for their generous and enthusiastic support of our efforts.  They are determined to help us identify at least one other community outside Jo Daviess County committed to establishing a mop shop in their area!  That's been a goal of our Mop Shop for over a decade!  Many thanks to Poopsies's and all the Poopettes! FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE...The Mop Shop has just been informed by Nicole Hermsen, Jo Daviess County Transit Director, that the current fee of .50 per stop will continue.  Roundtrip fares from the home of a client to The Mop Shop and back home will remain $1.00.  The change in fee structure announced on July 1 applies to the general public only.  Our contractual agreement will be honored. Jo Daviess County Health Department Nurses Lori Stangl and Jen Trebian will be providing health screenings at The Mop Shop from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on Monday, July 28.  Blood pressure, pulse rate, height, weight and oxygen saturation results will be available.  In addition, a wide variety of self-care products will be available.  Coffee, lemonade, orange juice, water and cookies will be served.  Many thanks to Lori and Jen for joining us! On Monday, June 23 and again on Monday, July 28, two nurses from the Jo Daviess County Health Department will be on site to provide clients with complimentary health screenings.  Height, weight, blood pressure, pulse and oxygen saturation results will be available.  Many thanks to the Health Department for joining us.  Their service to our clients is very much appreciated!  Cookies, coffee and water will be available! Start Wednesday, June 4, by visiting the Senior Expo at Galena's Elementary & Middle School from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.  Nearly 35 vendors will be on hand with news you can use.  Then, swing by nearby Lord of Love Lutheran Church at 219 Summit Street between 11:00 and 1:00 and enjoy a delicious lunch at the Welcome Table.  Available the first and third Wednesday of the month, there is no charge for the three-course luncheon, prepared and served by members of the congregation!  (June 2025)​

Plan to stop by the Jo Daviess County Senior Expo on Wednesday, June 4.  Approximately thirty-five vendors will be on hand from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon at Galena's Elementary & Middle School, 1230 Franklin Street.  Vendors are encouraged to offer raffles, door prizes and or promotional swag.  Learn about programs and services available in and around JDC, meet friends and neighbors and leave empowered to "live well, stay connected and keep growing!" The Mop Shop will be open from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 8 and Monday, February 24.  Residents of Jo Daviess County in need of cleaning products are welcome to stop by either day.  Clients may select three higher value items (like mops, brooms and disinfecting wipes) and three lower value items (such as paper towels, tissue and dish soap).  Every other month, clients may select EcoBreeze laundry detergent sheets or liquid laundry detergent and fabric softener.  New clients are always welcome! EXCITING NEWS!  Galena's Main Street is filled with unique shops, interesting galleries and a plethora of coffee shops and restaurants.  Located at 402 South Main Street, Poopsie's is a fun, funky shop with something special for everyone!  Committed to civic engagement, Poopsie's has given back over $50,000 to the community in the past few years.  In 2024, Poopsie's committed to giving back 1% of sales to local charities.  Recently, The Mop Shop was notified that it was selected as a recipient of Poopsie's generosity this year!  We are extremely grateful for Poopsie's interest in and support of The Mop Shop as we continue serving residents of Jo Daviess County.  Our heartfelt thanks to Poopsie's!
